Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

The questions we answer most often over the phone, from a door that will not close to what a service visit actually covers.

Service & Repair

When something is wrong with the door

Most likely a spring is broken. Springs make the door manageable to lift, and when a spring breaks the door is extremely heavy. Spring replacements are the most common repair we do.
In many cases the safety beam, located towards the bottom of the track, gets bumped, dirty, or misaligned. Check to make sure there is a steady light on each one.
Noise almost always comes from worn rollers, dry bearings, loose hardware, or a door that has fallen out of balance. All of those are checked and corrected during a service visit, and the difference is usually dramatic.
We strongly recommend against it. Torsion springs are under enormous tension and releasing that tension without the right bars and technique causes serious injuries every year. This is the one repair worth handing to someone who does it daily.
Most common repairs, including springs, cables, and rollers, are finished in a single visit. We carry the equipment and the usual parts on the truck. If something has to be ordered we will tell you that up front.

Doors & Openers

Choosing and replacing

Yes. We service and install commercial and residential garage doors and openers, including rolling steel products for shops, warehouses, and storage.
Often yes, depending on the age of the door and whether a matching section is still made. We will tell you honestly when a section swap makes sense and when the money is better spent on a new door.
Yes. We install and service LiftMaster openers, including models with quiet belt drives and phone control. Ask us which one suits the weight of your door and how you actually use the garage.
We measure the opening, the headroom, and the side room before anything is ordered. That measurement also determines the spring and hardware sizing, which is what keeps a new door balanced and safe.
